" It was just per chance that we happened upon Wilson Pond Camps as we had a short week and no destination. This time, it sure was a blessing!  We have rolled into three days all this wonderful piece of God's Country has to offer.  I know in years to come we will have to make our reservations far in advance for I'm sure all who visit here will return, as we will. " D&DH/Maryland

Greenville Maine Moosehead Lake Region Maine vacation cabin rentals

The Moosehead Lake Region is a destination of choice for not only nature lovers and those seeking to escape from the stress in their busy lives, but also for eco-tourists.  Many choices await all who visit the area.
If you are seeking adventure, then you might consider hiking, seaplane rides, white-water rafting, moose watching, fishing, mountain biking or snowmobiling.
For those who want more relaxing choices, the area offers smaller lakes and ponds for canoe and kayaking adventures, bird watching, relaxing on a scenic cruise on the historic steamship Katahdin, road trips for breath taking  views and discovering wildlife.
The Moosehead Lake Region and Wilson Pond Camps also offers a place for those who choose to do "nothing at all." You can  sit quietly alongside the shoreline reading a favorite book, relishing in the views and sounds of the serenading loons, or  catching a mid-day nap that you have been waiting for all year long.

The Moosehead Lake Region is surrounded with beautiful mountains, streams, and ponds giving a home to moose, deer, loons, eagles, and so many of God's beautiful creations.  We invite you to come and enjoy it all with us at Wilson Pond Camps.

The Moosehead Lake Region also has educational activities including:

historical sightseeing:  Moosehead Historical Society
open for tours June through September

marine museum:           Moosehead Marine Museum
located in downtown Greenville, and home of the Katahdin Cruiseship. Call or email for more information on boat rides up the lake on the steamship "Kate."

"Leafpeeping" season is from mid-September to mid-October with brilliant colors throughout the region.  There are several scenic routes in the area, to be viewed by vehicle, or hiking.

Moose Watching is a must for every visitor to the area.  Even though they are more readily seen during the months of May and June, they can be found in shady, wet areas throughout the summer and fall seasons.  The Moosehead Lake Region has many local "hangouts" for these majestic creatures.

Bird Watching continues to be more and more popular.  The Moosehead Lake Region was the first area in the state to be researched and mapped for the Maine Birding Trail.  Loons and eagles thrive in and around the numerous lakes, streams and ponds in the area.
